Hello Cub Families,

It’s hard to believe we are already heading into Week 4 at Salisbury Elementary! The halls are buzzing with energy, routines are settling in, and our Cubs are showing us just how curious, kind, and resilient they are. Each day brings new moments of learning, laughter, and connection—and it’s all possible because of the incredible support of our families and community. Thank you for walking alongside us as we make this year one to remember!

Our Grade 3 and 4 students were excellent listeners and deeply engaged during the Operation Lifesaver railway safety presentation with Logan Morin. This important session taught our Cubs valuable lessons to help keep them safe around railways.

Terry Fox Walk
Our annual walk was a huge success. Students showed their support for cancer research in true Cub spirit. Thank you to all families who sent in toonies (and more!) for Terry. I’ll share the total in next week’s update.

Class Reconfiguration
Our classroom reconfigurations went very smoothly. Students quickly settled into their new spaces, showing great flexibility and Cub spirit. We are especially grateful to our families for your patience, understanding, and encouragement through this process. Your support makes all the difference in helping our Cubs feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.

Bring Your Family to School Night
What an incredible evening! The playground and hallways were filled with laughter, smiles, and the warmth of our Cub community. Over 400 hotdogs and juice boxes were enjoyed, but even more special were the countless conversations, connections, and shared moments between families, staff, and students. Nights like this remind us how lucky we are to be part of such a caring, supportive community. Thank you for showing up with such enthusiasm and making the event unforgettable—we truly felt the Cub family spirit shining everywhere.

Looking Ahead

Tuesday – Lockdown Practice
At 9:00 a.m. we will hold our annual school-wide lockdown practice with the RCMP Safety Team. Students have been preparing in their classrooms and specialty areas. Please don’t be alarmed if you see RCMP vehicles on campus between 8:30–10:30 a.m. While sometimes a bit unsettling (especially for adults), this is an important safety practice.

Wednesday – Pizza Day
Orders must be placed online by midnight Sunday. $2.50 per slice. Lactose-free and gluten-free options available. A big thank you to our amazing Pizza Day volunteers who help make this treat possible for our Cubs each month!

Thursday – School Swag Orders Close
Last chance to place orders on School Cash Online. Items include:

  • Cub T-Shirts – $20
  • Hoodies – $40
  • Crewneck Sweatshirts – $40
All items are being proudly made locally by Dave and Tammy at  Plasma Works Metal Art and Graphixs.

Friday – No School for Students
Staff will be engaged in an EECD Professional Learning Day.

Front Entrance Refresh
A huge thank you to Finks Home Solutions for generously offering to paint our school’s front entrance on Friday. We can’t wait to see the difference—it will be a fresh new welcome until our brand-new school is built!

Thank you again for your ongoing support and for making Salisbury Elementary such a vibrant Cub community. Every event, every change, and every success is possible because of the incredible families and staff that make up our school family.

With gratitude,
Denise & Angela 🐾

P.S This weeks animal fact was that Elephants can’t jump

P.S.S – further elephant information for enrichment to share with your cub – Elephants can “hear” with their feet! They pick up vibrations in the ground through their toes and leg bones, which helps them sense other elephants from miles away.
