Dear SES Families,
We’ve had another wonderful week here at Salisbury Elementary! Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue building a positive and fun learning environment for our Cubs.
This week, our students also took time to learn about the importance of Truth and Reconciliation. They participated in traditional dances, such as the Jingle Dance, and reflected on the difficult realities faced by children in residential schools. These conversations help us honor the past and build understanding and respect for all cultures within our Cub family.
🎶 GoatWorks Drumming – October 8 & 9
We are over the moon excited to welcome back GoatWorks Drumming on October 8th and 9th!
This year’s presentation will showcase drums from around the world, including those from Cuba, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Pakistan, and Brazil. Each drum will get a short demonstration, highlighting:
- Its history and country of origin
- The unique sounds it produces
- How it is constructed
Then the magic happens—students will join in to create rhythms using the many voices of these drums. And the best part? Every student gets the chance to play a drum!
This is a wonderful opportunity for our Cubs to explore music, culture, and community through an exciting, hands-on experience.

🥣 Breakfast Club
We are so proud of our Breakfast Club, which welcomes up to 70 students a day! Thanks to our hard-working volunteers, a variety of nutritious foods are served to start our Cubs’ mornings off right.
A few reminders for families to discuss with students:
- Please take only what you can eat, so that there is enough for everyone.
- Be a true Cub by following our ABCDs when at Breakfast Club:
- Act safe
- Be kind
- Cooperate
- Do your best
- Students MUST go directly to Breakfast Club upon arriving at school—they are not permitted to wait until the bell rings to come in from outside.
We are so grateful for our volunteers who make this possible each day!
🐾 Cub learning continued……
Thank you to those of you who have reached out saying you have enjoyed the extra learning with the weekly animal facts! This week, Ms. Mullin and one of her students wanted to share a few more interesting and educational facts about Sea Otters;
- Did you know that sea otter mamas wrap their babies in kelp so they will float while the mamas dive down to hunt for sea creatures?
- Otters even keep a favourite rock for most of their lives, using it to crack open shells for their meals!🦦
Thank you for being such a vital part of our Cub community. We are so proud of all that is happening at SES, and we can’t wait to share more exciting updates with you soon!
Warmly,
Denise & Angela
