SES Family Update – Week Four

Dear Families,

What a wonderful fourth week we’ve had at Salisbury Elementary!

🌟 Lockdown Practice Success
Our lockdown practice could not have gone better. The RCMP were very impressed with how secure the building was and how quickly our students settled safely in place. A huge job well done to both staff and students!

📅 This Week at a Glance

Monday

  • 🧡 Orange Shirt Day Assembly – We’ll gather to reflect on Truth and Reconciliation.
  • 🚒 Emergency Evacuation Drill – Similar to a fire drill; however, all Cubs will relocate next door to SRS, our designated evacuation site. Fire trucks will be on site to support the practice and ensure all safety protocols are followed. Please know this is just a drill.

Tuesday

  • No School – In recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Wednesday

  • 🍕 Pizza Day – A huge thank you to our volunteers who make this possible!
⏰ Reminder: Pizza orders must be placed on SchoolCash Online before Sunday at midnight for the upcoming week.

Friday

  • 🎵 Cub Assembly at 10:50 a.m. – Students will review school expectations, sing our school song, and some Cubs will receive certificates for their wonderful work following routines and procedures in September.

📑 Forms & Fees – School Cash Online
Please complete all forms on SchoolCash Online, including:

  • Media Consent
  • Early Closure Policy
  • Computer Usage Agreement

If you haven’t yet submitted the $50 student fee, please do so as soon as possible. This fee covers school supplies that have already been purchased for your child at the start of the school year.

🏃 Terry Fox Walk – Thank You!
Together, our Cubs and families raised over $250 for the Terry Fox Foundation. The cheque was delivered last week—thank you for your generosity and community spirit!

🎨 A Fresh New Look at Our Entrance
A huge thank you and job well done to FINCK Home Solutions of Salisbury for volunteering and painting our front entrance. It is now beautiful, bright, and spacious, what a warm and welcoming way to enter our school each day!

👥 PSSC Meeting
Our first PSSC (Parent School Support Committee) meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 1st at 6:00 p.m. If any parents are interested in joining, please contact administration prior to Wednesday. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our returning PSSC members—your support and partnership are truly valued.

🙌 Volunteers – Thank You & Important Information
A huge thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who have already signed up to support our Cubs this year! We truly appreciate your time and commitment.

For volunteers who were already in the system last year, please note that in order to maintain your volunteer status for this school year, a Volunteer Checklist and a signed copy of Policy 701 will need to be sent to the district. If you have any questions or need help completing these, please reach out to the school office.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We’re so proud of how our Cubs are learning, growing, and leading together!

Warmly,
Denise & Angela

P.S. Did you know that sea otters hold hands while they sleep so they don’t drift away from each other in the water? 🦦

P.S.S. (For Curious Cubs!) Sea otters have the thickest fur of any animal in the world—up to one million hairs per square inch! They don’t have blubber like whales or seals, so their fur keeps them warm. Imagine if your winter jacket had that much fluff!
