Notes from the office:

  • On Tuesday, October 15th, we will be having a Lockdown Drill at 9:00am with the RCMP. This is a practice to make sure that all our safety procedures are in place. Please note that the phones will not be answered, and the doors will not be opened during the lockdown drill. If a student arrives late (after 9am), they will not be let into the school until the drill is complete. All classes have reviewed and practiced the procedures so that they know what to do. We understand that these drills can cause anxiety for some students and parents. We tell our students that sometimes we will need to leave the building to stay safe (fire drills) and sometimes we need to stay in our classrooms to stay safe. Please note that SRS will also be having their lockdown practice on Tuesday so you may notice an RCMP presence in the school area. Please reach out to Mrs Zwicker and Mrs Hoogendyk if you have any questions or concerns.
  • With the Safe Arrival system, you can report your child’s absence in advance whenever possible. Safe Arrival is an absence management system that improves student safety and makes it easy for you to let the school know about your child’s absence.

This system will contact you each time your child is not in class at the beginning of the day if we do not have an absence reported using the methods below. Schools will not accept absences reported to the school directly or left on the school voicemail – all parents are required to use this system to report an absence.

  • Umbrellas – We understand that students love to bring their umbrellas to school when it is raining out, however, they are a safety hazard on the playground. Please do not send umbrellas to school with your child.
  • Inclement weather – Did you know that young children love to play in the puddles and get wet? 😊 Please send your child to school with splash pants, jackets and rain boots on these days as students will not be changing or calling home if they choose to play in the puddles and get wet.
  • We hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend spent with friends and family. We are thankful for our wonderful CUBS and their families. We are also thankful for our amazing staff.
