Dear Families,
What a fantastic second week of school it has been at Salisbury Elementary! Our halls are buzzing with energy, and our Cubs are already showing great progress and excitement for the year ahead. Thank you for the continued support you give at home, it makes all the difference.
Gentle Reminders
- School Fees & Forms: A friendly reminder that school fees should now be paid through SchoolCash Online. Information forms also need to be completed on SchoolCash Online as soon as possible. Thank you for helping us keep everything organized and up to date!
- Medical Concerns & Allergies: If your child has a medical condition or allergy that the school should be aware of, please be sure to discuss this with their teacher. This allows us to ensure that all proper documentation and procedures are in place to keep our Cubs safe.
Upcoming Dates & Events
- Thursday, Sept. 18 – Terry Fox Walk
All students will be participating in various ways to show support for Terry’s Marathon of Hope. If families would like to donate to cancer research, any amount may be sent to the school this week. Donations will be collected and submitted on Friday. - Thursday, Sept. 18 – Grade 3/4 Operation Lifesaver Assembly
Our Grade 3 and 4 classes will attend Operation Lifesaver, an interactive Railway Safety presentation led by local authorities. This is always a valuable and engaging learning opportunity for our students. - Thursday, Sept. 18 – Bring Your Family to School Barbecue Celebration 🎈
Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on the playground, we invite all families to join us for our annual Cub – community event. Families will first be welcomed onto the playground for a meet and greet. Soon after parents and non-school aged children will be invited into the gym for a brief 15-minute presentation by administration, and then we will head back outside for a hot dog barbecue, face painting, and plenty of fun.
This is a no-stress evening meant for connection—simply a chance to meet other families, share a laugh, and enjoy being together as a school community. - Friday, Sept. 19 – No School for Students
A reminder that there is no school for students on Friday as it is a Professional Learning Day for our staff.
Thank you once again for a great start to the school year. We are so proud of our Cubs and excited for all the learning and experiences ahead.
With appreciation,
Denise Zwicker, Principal
Angela Hoogendyk, Vice-Principal
P.S- Our Cubs were taught this week that an octopus has three hearts, you can continue the learning at home by adding that: two hearts pumps blood to the gills, and one pumps blood to the rest of the body.
P.P.S- for a bit of enrichment – octopus also have mini brains in each of their tentacles that are overseen by a larger central brain.
