Welcome back β and a VERY special welcome to all of our new Cubs and families joining Salisbury Elementary this year!
We are so excited to begin welcoming students on Tuesday. There is lots to know as we get started, so please take a few minutes to read through the important information below.
π Kindergarten Families
Our Kindergarten Cubs have a staggered entry, as outlined in the letter and email sent to families.
We know that first Kindergarten morning is a BIG one β sometimes even more so for the grown-ups! π There will be lots of educators outside with clipboards and class lists to make sure every Cub knows exactly where to go.
πΎ First-Day Arrival
On your child’s first day of school, families are welcome to come to the playground, give those hugs, take the pictures and see your Cub on their way. πIf your child takes the bus and you would like to follow the bus to school on their first day, you are welcome to do so. Parking is available along Douglas Street, but please know that space is limited. There will be lots of educators outside with clipboards and class lists ready to welcome students and make sure everyone gets exactly where they need to go.
After those first-day hugs and pictures, we’ll take it from there! πΎ
π Daily Morning Arrival & Drop-Off
Beginning after your child’s first day, we ask that students arrive and head in on their own. There will always be friendly faces outside ready to help.
Buses begin arriving at approximately 7:45 a.m. There is no supervision prior to 7:45, so students being dropped off by parents must not arrive before that time.
Parent drop-off is STOP & GO! ππ¨ Please pull into the designated drop-off lane, let your Cub out safely and continue on your way. Parents should remain in their vehicles to keep traffic moving safely.
An educator is on duty from 7:45β8:20 a.m.
Students arriving after 8:20 a.m. should enter through the front of the school and stop at the office for a late ticket. Parents are asked to park and ensure their child safely enters the building before leaving.
π Bus Planner
Bus Planner is where you will find your child’s bussing information. New families will need to create an account:
π End-of-Day Dismissal
Bus students are dismissed first, according to bus number, and are walked directly to their bus by an adult. For safety reasons, students cannot be removed from bus lines by parents/guardians.
Once buses have been dismissed, teachers will accompany daycare and parent-pickup students to their designated locations:
Daycare: Playground
Parent Pickup: Outside the back playground gate, behind the garden shed
Students will only be released to designated adults documented in PowerSchool. Any unexpected change to your child’s end-of-day plans must be communicated to both the teacher and the office before 12:00 p.m.
π Keep Those Backpack Tags!
All students will have a backpack tag identifying them as bus, daycare or parent pickup.
PLEASE do not remove the tag! It helps our staff quickly make sure every Cub gets exactly where they are supposed to go β especially during those busy first weeks. πΎ
π» School Cash Online
Families will need to create a School Cash Online account. This is where families will find:
β’ School fees and supplies
β’ Field trips and fundraising
β’ Permission forms
β’ All school policies and required documentation that parents/guardians need to review and sign off on
Please take a few minutes to ensure all required forms, policies and documentation for your child are completed.
π₯ͺ Provincial School Lunch Program
Our new lunch program begins Tuesday! Orders for Tuesday must be submitted before the end of the day Sunday. Once registered, families can order lunches up to one month in advance.

π Visiting the School
All visitors must enter through the front entrance and ring the buzzer. Once admitted, please come directly to the office to sign in and receive a visitor’s tag.
These procedures are an important part of keeping our Cubs and staff safe.
π Staying Connected
Families received an email on Wednesday introducing you to your child’s teacher.
Throughout the school year, families can expect weekly updates via email to help keep you informed about what is happening at Salisbury Elementary.

We know the beginning of a new school year brings excitement, nerves, forms, new routines, giant backpacks and probably at least one morning when someone can’t find a shoe. π We’ll figure it all out together.
Our goal is simple: every Cub arrives safely, feels welcomed, knows where to go and knows that Salisbury Elementary is a place where they belong.
We can’t wait to see our Cubs on Tuesday! πΎπ

π Did you know? Goats have rectangular pupils, which help them see almost all the way around themselves.
P.S. Their wide field of vision helps them keep an eye out for predators while they are eating.
